I added some photos to my blog today, so you can get an idea of what I have to deal with on a daily basis. Check it out!

I decided to start sharing some great sites having to do with Beagles, since I started finding more and more sites about Beagles. I spend a lot of time online, and a lot more sleeping. One of the funniest sites I’ve found so far has to be Fresita’s website. She is a Beagle that lives in Cost Rica (wherever that is), and her person takes a lot of videos of her.
By the way, people, you should do this too. Or at least take lots of pictures, cause we aren’t around very long on this planet. Which is too bad, since we’d take a lot better care of it.
Anyway, back to my story. Fresita is a nut. I mean, sure, Beagles are nuts. But she is REALLY nuts. She runs after golf balls, plays with young humans, takes a bath in the sink. What is wrong with this picture!? Beagles hate water, don’t we? I haven’t had a bath since I don’t know when. I think I have Beagle ADD. I can’t focus on one thing at a time.
I think Fresita’s site is way cool, so check it out. I think it’s cool, though at my age I can’t really see anything very clearly. She may be a hamster or something. No, my hearing is still good, and I hear a Beagle in the videos.

I was up early this morning, barking at my people to wake up and feed me. They have never forgotten to feed me, but I guess I have flashbacks of when I wasn’t taken care of as well.
I got to my current owners when I was less than two people years old. Up to that point, I had lived with an angry and abusive male human, who used to beat me for barking. If I’ve mentioned this before, I apologize. Then, after they took me out of there, I spent some time in the shelter and with a nice female human who worked at the shelter. She, like I said, was nice, but she couldn’t keep me (due to the fact that she had an abusive boyfriend). At least I knew it wasn’t personal.
So, when I got to my new family’s home, I hardly ever barked. I thought it was bad, and I knew that if I did it I’d get hurt. But new family was very kind and gentle with me, and allowed me to take some time to reflect and eventually move forward. Now, I bark at them all the time! It’s great! Do you bark at your people? And if so, why? Let me know…

I remember:
-Stealing food from the neighbor dog. His name was Rusty and he loved me.
-Getting hit by a car as I was on the way home from stealing food from Rusty. Moral of the story: stealing hurts.
-Hiding in the bushes along the road after I was hit, because I was scared (and hurt).
-My people searching for me, and calling my name.
-I didn’t say anything, but I don’t know why.
-My people finally finding me, and taking me to the vet. (I hate doctors).
-The vet saying I was okay, other than a few bruised ribs.
-Going home with the family that I love, and finally trusting that they would take good care of me.
Thank you, family, for caring so much for me.

This is a test of the emergency peemail system. If this were an actual emergency we would ask you to all exit through the pet door, and get as far away from the house as you can. But this is not a real emergency so hang tight on the couch.

This is a test of some of the new features I just added to my blog. You may notice some different things that have been added. For instance, the mood icon at the top of this post. I also added a digital fingerprint thing.

Did I tell you the story of my girl scout cookie experience? I don’t think I did. Anyway, first I need to give you a little history lesson. We Beagles eat anything and everything, regardless of what it is. My personal favorite is cardboard, but enough about that.
One day, I was just minding my own business, as I usually do, and I came upon this colorful (I mean light gray) box that smelled REALLY GOOD! So, I stuck my nose in it. I had never smelled anything so magnificent in my life. I had to see what was in this magical box.
I began ripping it open with my powerful Beagle teeth, and to my amazement, it was people cookies! I love people food but rarely get any, so this was my lucky day.
I ate almost the entire box of minty chocolate cookies before my people realized what had happened. My human sister was a girl scout at the time, and got careless with where she left them.
Meanwhile, my people were FREAKING OUT! There was talk of hydrogen peroxide or something, and the vet, and “what should we do?” I also heard, “she looks okay, though”, and “she’s a Beagle, she’ll be fine”.
As it turned out, I was fine. But for those of you out there that think chocolate is okay for dogs, think again. Many dogs are not as lucky as I was, to have eaten some cheap chocolate cookies and survived. Chocolate is normally very toxic to pets, so be careful. If it smells really good, it probably isn’t really good for you. And make sure your people have some hydrogen peroxide to force down your throat to make you vomit if you do get into some bad stuff. And veterinarians aren’t all bad. Have your people take you to one just to be safe.

Today was a “walk day”, as my people call it. What this means is that we all go for a walk together. That’s right, four dogs walking down the street in one group, all getting along and having fun. I walk really slowly, compared to the others, but Foxy is no spring chicken either. Sarah and Emma are really good about not going too fast, and waiting for Foxy and me.
After a walk, I usually come home, have my carrot piece and go back to sleep. Until next walk day…

Here is the latest information on the pet food recall, according to what I found at Yahoo. Sunshine Foods is the main one that is recalling food. Their products include Ol’Roy, sold at Walmart, and some dog biscuits. Apparently the wheat gluten used to make the food is contaminated with melamine, which is used to make plastics and other industrial products.
For a complete list of products affected, please have your people go to this site. I always knew there was something in pet food that was making all of us sick. Usually it takes a long time to get to us, though. This stuff is really bad news. So please be careful.

I forgot to tell you what is going on and who is in the video. The first dog to appear that is not a Bassett is Foxy. She is a red dog (though red appears as light gray in B/W videos). Next, Sarah the Beagle mix comes into view from the right side of the screen. Last, but not least, I make my entrance from Dad’s left, and head into the kitchen. I think I’m probably headed for the pet door, though I can’t really remember for sure.
