The Life and Times of an Elderly Beagle
Apr
19

I was up early this morning, barking at my people to wake up and feed me. They have never forgotten to feed me, but I guess I have flashbacks of when I wasn’t taken care of as well.
I got to my current owners when I was less than two people years old. Up to that point, I had lived with an angry and abusive male human, who used to beat me for barking. If I’ve mentioned this before, I apologize. Then, after they took me out of there, I spent some time in the shelter and with a nice female human who worked at the shelter. She, like I said, was nice, but she couldn’t keep me (due to the fact that she had an abusive boyfriend). At least I knew it wasn’t personal.
So, when I got to my new family’s home, I hardly ever barked. I thought it was bad, and I knew that if I did it I’d get hurt. But new family was very kind and gentle with me, and allowed me to take some time to reflect and eventually move forward. Now, I bark at them all the time! It’s great! Do you bark at your people? And if so, why? Let me know…

    Hi Lilbeth
Just dropping by to say hi. Dixie has started whinging in the morning to wake our humans up and to have them feed her. I don’t think we’ve missed many meals. Even when we are sick we still manage to eat. I guess its a beagle thing!

    Hi Lilibeth,

I’m happy you are with good humans. You had some bad luck with male humans for sure. I am 2 years old and my owner is a male human. He doesn’t yell but he laughs real loud and makes a lot of odd sounds. I don’t bark much but you can hear me on my web site. I mostly howl and beagle laugh. Beagle lauging for the humans who read this is sort of like crying but it is really laughing. Bye for now but come visit me at my site.

    There is something about beagles.
Can you dig it? Yeah, I knew you could.

    Hi Miss Lilibeth,
You’re a very pretty lady! I’m LilBoogie and my mom is BigBoogie. We got our names because we were found “boogie’n” along a back road in North Carolina. We were running away from mean men hunters, so I understand why you’d be afraid of men hoomins. The lady who found us was really nice. One Christmas she went to visit her pack in Florida and left us to stay with a man hoomin and his 3 beagles. We had so much fun that she let us stay with them. The alpha was a really great elder beagle named Miles. His face was white like yours and his eyes were kind like yours–he’s at the RainbowBridge now and we all miss him. Degui (the bi-ped calls him dewi) is the new alpha but Molly really runs things. It’s been almost three years and we’re really happy. Degui likes to bark alot. The bi-ped (we call him ‘unkie’) calls it ‘air-barking.’ Whudda mouth! We don’t bark much, but my mom like to howl when we’re getting ready to go out. Unkie doesn’t like to get waked up with barking so we’re quiet…. we just jump around on him and lick his face until he get’s up. heeheehee We like your blog and will be back soon. Please come visit us at HowlingAcres… baskerbeagles.com (this pack is called baskerbeagles for good reason!!! snrk snrk)

    Hi All,
Thanks for the comments. Shiloh, tell your Mom that I am very sorry about the loss of Oreo. As for the baskerbeagles and Fresita, you are very funny and I enjoy your sites. Jazz and Dixie, Pearl, Molly Macaroni, Lucy Bear, it was nice hearing from you all. Keep in touch.
