The Life and Times of an Elderly Beagle

Hi,

As you can see in the title of this post, my name is Emma Lou. I am a two year-old Bassett Hound. I LOVE chasing tennis balls and chewing on my sister Sarah’s legs. She is my chew toy. LOL!

Our family has been recovering, as you know, from the loss of Lilibeth. She was a great mentor to me, and taught me a lot about being persistent and stubborn (not that Bassett Hounds don’t have the stubborn thing nailed). Anyway, we will always miss you, Lilibeth.

The subject of today’s post is tennis balls. I had a bad experience a few weeks ago at the doggy park, and I wanted to let you all know that if you are chasing a tennis ball with another, larger dog, let the larger dog “win”. It’s not about who gets there first, apparently, but who is bigger and more aggressive.

I am a lover, not a fighter, so I ended up being pinned upside down by the larger dog, and my Dad being VERY upset about it. He came running, but by the time he arrived the other dog had let me go.  But it really scared me, and I have witnessed some other dogs being beat up at the park. I try to stay far away from any conflicts.

My sister, Sarah, is very protective of me, and she will stand up for me if needed. I will do the same for her. Those other dogs better not mess with us.

To that white dog that scared the poop out of me at the dog park, you didn’t get to the tennis ball first, so there!

    Hi Emma Lou,
We are so sorry to hear about the passing of Lilibeth. She lived to a good old age and will be happy in doggy heaven playing with all the other beagles and doggies there. Thank you for stopping by our blog. We will continueto check in on you guys to see what you are up to.
