I’ve always known that a pet, such as a dog or a cat, can really help people. Those of us who have pets are typically in better health, happier, more calm, …etc. I have always wondered, however, what do the pets get in return, other than food and a place to live. Are we humans that special to our animals?

Well, apparently we are. I just read a great article from Best Friends, and it shows us how we people are really helping the animals. I don’t remember exactly how I found the pioneer woman’s site, only that there was a mention of the site in a comment on a blog that had a post about a Bloodhound. The post mistakenly had a picture of a Bassett Hound attached to it.

If you know what blog I’m referring to, please let me know.

Anyway, I’ve been following the Pioneer Woman’s blog with my Bloglines feedreader, and I find it offensive that she thinks her Bassett Hound, Charlie, is all that. I mean he is, but Emma is SO MUCH Prettier! And she is SO SWEET!

I just found a great pet adoption site, in a very roundabout way, but hey, it’s cool. They are called Used Dogs, and they are pet rescue and adoption organization. Uno, the Beagle, won the Westminster dog show last night. WOO_HOO! This is the first time a Beagle has won, in the 100 times a winner has been picked. That is VERY surprising, but just goes to show you how stupid humans are.

Of course, I am a firm believer in spaying and neutering your pets, so please get your next family member from a shelter.

I don’t know if you noticed, but I added a little amazon.com thing in my sidebar. The ad is for a book called “Training your Beagle”. This is a very funny thing, since you cannot actually train a Beagle. The best you can hope for is one that sorta kinda behaves and doesn’t jump on or bite people. If you have a Beagle that actually listens to you, it is probably a mix of some sort, so be thankful. We Beagles have our own ideas of how the world should be, and we aren’t about to let some human spoil all the fun.

My Dad has been so obsessed with the win a mascot at BloggingTips.com contest, that he has hogged the computer all day and all night, not allowing me to blog. Fortunately I am smarter than most humans, and I found a way to get to the computer and turn it on while he is still sleeping. Ha, Ha.

Things have been a little crazy around here since we decided to move. There are boxes everywhere you look, and the carport is a disaster area. On a positive note, the hummingbirds that have taken up residence in the carport have grown very quickly, and one of the babies was flying around yesterday. Mom and Dad have some pictures, and once I get copies sent to me I’ll be sure to post them. Until then…

I can’t believe it! I actually found someone, a Beagle no less, who is older than I am. This Beagle’s name is Bucket, and they are 18 dog years old. That makes them, let’s see… about 126 people years old. WOW! Bucket Beagle has a video that you can watch if you want to. You can see it in my guestbook or on youtube. Bucket Beagle still has some spunk. But that’s what being a Beagle is all about.
Here is a video of Lady the Beagle chewing bubble gum. They say eating gum takes seven years off your life. Not a big deal to a dog, that’s only one people year for us.
