The Life and Times of an Elderly Beagle

I have been neglecting this blog, as I have been working on getting other sites created and ready for sale. Plus, the Entrecard thing has taken a lot of time. But I think Lilsy would have wanted this blog to continue and be better than ever. Of course, it will never be the same without Lilibeth, but it still can share some good information with the rest of the world.

So, for the first post in a while, I would like to let you know about a blog that I found while dropping Entrecard cards for my other blogs. I visit this site every day, sometimes twice per day. Kay’s K9s is a great site, and offers handcrafted miniature needle felted dogs for sale. If you have never seen needle felted dogs, don’t worry. They are a good thing. Be sure to stop by and check out Kay’s site. You can also help shelter animals by clicking on the animal rescue site button in the right sidebar.

When I was young, I had an Alaskan Malamute, named Nanook. She was the sweetest thing ever, though people were afraid of her howl, just because she was big. Nanook would never hurt anyone, and she roamed free on our 80 acres of land. Once, she wandered off to the neighboring property and was shot, because someone thought she was “running deer”. She managed to make it back home, her face covered in blood, and we rushed her to the doggy hospital, which was several hours away at that time.

She didn’t make it, and we were all devastated. She was only a few years old. I found out later, through my Dad, that she had been shot at several times. He could tell this, apparently, from the marks in the snow. Someone shot at her with a rifle, from a distance, and then finished her off with a shotgun blast to the face.

This video reminds me of that awful event, and I really hope this guys dies a slow, horrible death, after he is convicted for several felonies for shooting these dogs. The laws really need to change in this country, to eliminate low lifes, such as this guy.

If you’d like to read more about this moron, you can do so here. I don’t like to give him any more publicity, and I don’t normally support abortion, but in this case his mother should have reconsidered.

It’s the annual CSS Naked day. Today, I have disabled my CSS on this site, with the use of this plugin, that will automatically disable all CSS on your wordpress blog. Just download, unzip, and upload to your plugins folder. Have fun and don’t be ashamed about being naked. It’s perfectly okay.

Most times we run around with just collars on. Today is the day to remove those collars. C’mon, let’s have some fun!

Remember the Pit Bulls that were bred for fighting by that idiot Michael Vick? Well, 22 of them are now being cared for by the wonderful people at Best Friends. Best Friends is a no-kill animal sanctuary in Utah, where dogs, cats, horses, birds, and all kinds of animals can stay (for their lifetime, if needed), and have a great life.

The Pit Bulls that survived the horrible treatment that they received at the Vick residence are all in separate kennels, and they are starting to warm up to people again. I know I wouldn’t be so forgiving if I was that mistreated, but Pit Bulls aren’t as mean as everyone thinks they are. These dogs will kill other dogs, though, since they were trained to do that. But around people they are sweethearts.

My humans visited Best Friends a few years ago, and are talking about visiting again. At the time, they met a sweet Pit Bull named Isis. Apparently, she was there because she liked to eat chickens, and her former owners were trying to raise chickens. I guess that didn’t work out too well.

Hi,

Thanks for your patience during my change of hosts. Lilibeth’s blog is back and will be better than ever! Okay, I can’t promise something that is up to an individual’s taste. But seriously, it’s good to be back.

Due to the lack of a single entry in our photo contest from last month, or October, or whenever it started, I would like to announce that Lilibeth won. Lilibeth was a beautiful Beagle with an amazing personality. When she was young, she used to spin around in circles when she got excited. Of course, this used to make us laugh (hard). I even did some photo trading cards of her, and the team name was the spinners.

Anytime I remember something about Lilibeth, I will be sure to share the memory with you, my dedicated readers.

Oh, one thing that I have not mentioned is that when we took Lils’ body to the vet for cremation (this was a new vet, one we had never met), we received a sympathy card, signed by all the staff at the vet. We thought this was very nice, and really appreciated the gesture. All the signatures and notes were handwritten, and it really made our day. So, I would like to thank the Bradshaw Mountain Animal Hospital for their card.

Lilibeth the Beagle passed away early this morning. She was about 16 dog years old.
Lilibeth was born in Pennsylvania, as Star, and was beaten for barking when she was a young pup. Luckily, she was removed from that abusive home, and spent some time at the “bad place”, where she was eventually adopted by a wonderful and loving family.
Lilibeth lived with the Halls until her death. Lilibeth was the main entertainment committee for the Halls, and was known to love cardboard and any kind of toy. She especially liked unwrapping gifts during the holiday season. Lilibeth survived being hit by a car and being lost in the desert for two weeks, and died peacefully in her sleep.
She leaves behind her human mother and father, a two-legged sister, three four-legged sisters and two birds. You may send letters of condolence to lilibeth_hall@yahoo.com, or donations for funeral expenses to flyboy86342@yahoo.com. Thank you for you support.
And if you ever need support with grieving for a lost pet, please contact me or my wife, the animal communicator.

Dad and I were talking the other day, and he said “Lilsy, why don’t you write as often as you used to?”.
To which I replied “I’m tired. I’m really old, and it’s hard to sit still for any amount of time without falling asleep.”
Dad understood and suggested that I maybe have a ghost writer or two to help me out. I thought that was a great idea, and I immediately thought of my three sisters. They could write what I told them to write and I would get all the credit. Cool! Sarah is always wanting to say something anyway, so I might as well help her focus her constant yapping.
The three lovely ladies on the right are my sisters, and will be helping me with my blog from now on. They are: (from left to right, top to bottom) Foxy, Sarah and Emma Lou.
Foxy is a stray that showed up at my Dad’s work around the time that Jake and I were loose a few years ago. When I returned from my big adventure, Foxy was there to greet me. Foxy is older, like me, and she is very sweet.
Sarah is also a stray, but she came right to the house, when we were in Pennsylvania. They say she is a Beagle mix, but I think that gives Beagles a bad rap. She showed up on a holiday weekend, as I recall, and Dad said “We’ll take her to the shelter on Monday.” “Yeah, right” said I. Obviously that didn’t happen. She’s still here and still tormenting me.
Emma Lou is the newest edition to our family. She is the youngest, and she is very sweet and kind to me. Emma would never hurt anyone except for maybe a cat or something, but even then I think she would run away. Emma came from the bad place (the s-h-e-l-t-e-r), and joined our family shortly after I lost my sister Lucy last November. I think she’ll be a great addition to the blog.
Well, that’s it for the introductions. Stay tuned for some posts from these guys. I’m sure they’ll be great, and it will save me lots of work.

I know I haven’t written for quite a while, but I just found out that Petsmart is launching their new website on August 29th. I get most of my treats from Petsmart, some from Petco, and some from the local Pet Headquarters. If you know of any good deals on stuff in any online stores, please let me know. Thanks.
